Tawnya Mullen
K-3 Literacy Support
Tawnya was born and raised in Parksville, B.C., on Vancouver Island. After finishing high school, she attended the University of British Columbia, obtaining a Bachelor’s of Education, specializing in Early Childhood Education. After completing her degree, Tawnya worked at Mulgrave, an IB school in West Vancouver. There, she taught grades 3 and 5 among an amazing team of educators for three years. When her husband, Josh, was hired as the assistant coach with the UVic men’s basketball team, Tawnya and Josh relocated to Victoria. There, she was employed at St Michael’s University School, where she taught for nine years, spending most of it in kindergarten. While teaching kindergarten, Tawnya realized her true love and passion for teaching the school’s youngest learners.
After nine years as an assistant coach at UVic, Tawnya’s husband accepted the position of head coach of the Mt. Royal men’s basketball team (go Cougars!) The couple, with their daughters Amelia and Scarlett, relocated to sunny Calgary, swapping the ocean for the Rockies. Tawnya and her family are very excited to embark on a new adventure!
Tawnya’s favourite part of teaching is the uniqueness that every day brings. She loves working closely with students to build relationships with each one of them. Striving to create engaging and hands-on lessons and activities, Tawnya wants to see every student reach their full potential both inside and outside of the classroom. Thrilled to be joining Tanbridge Academy, Tawnya is looking forward to a fantastic year!
