Kirsten Hetchler
Student Support Facilitator
Kirsten Hetchler is the social worker at Tanbridge Academy. Many of you may have already seen her around the hallways over the past few years, as she had the opportunity to complete both her first and second practicums at the school before officially joining the team in the summer of 2024.
When Kirsten first started her journey in the social work program, she felt inspired by the many different ways to help others. But it wasn’t long before she discovered her passion for supporting children, especially after her first practicum. Her main focus as a social worker is to improve the well-being of students and their families by addressing both their basic and more complex needs in a safe, caring, and judgment-free space. Her mission is to help students thrive emotionally, intellectually, socially, and mentally, so they can succeed in their academic lives.
Kirsten’s goal is to build up students’ self-esteem, give them tools for resilience, and guide them through their personal growth—empowering them to make positive changes and become compassionate leaders. She values respect, understanding, and care, which are at the heart of her work in creating a supportive environment. With a commitment to upholding the dignity of each student, Kirsten is dedicated to providing integrity in her practice and advocating for their overall well-being.
Outside of her work, Kirsten loves taking care of her many plants, going camping, mountain biking, golfing, and practicing hot yoga. She grew up in Okotoks, where sports were a big part of her childhood.
