Kirsten Hetchler
Student Support Services
Kirsten Hetchler is part of the Student Support Services team at Tanbridge Academy. Many of you may already recognize her from the hallways—Kirsten completed both her first and second practicums at the school before officially joining the team in the summer of 2024.
Kirsten began her journey in the Community Studies program, where she was inspired by the many ways to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. It was during her first practicum that she discovered a strong passion for working with children. Since then, she has focused her efforts on supporting students and their families in a safe, caring, and non-judgmental environment.
In her role, Kirsten works closely with students from kindergarten to Grade 9, providing direct support to those facing academic, social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. She facilitates small group and one-on-one sessions focused on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, self-regulation, and resilience. Kirsten also collaborates with families, teachers, school staff, and external professionals to reduce barriers to student success—aligning her work with the school’s mission and values.
Kirsten is committed to fostering strong, respectful relationships within the school community and believes deeply in creating a supportive environment where every student feels safe, included, and empowered. Her approach is grounded in respect, empathy, and integrity, and she is passionate about helping students reach their full potential—both in and out of the classroom.
Outside of school, Kirsten enjoys caring for her many plants, camping, mountain biking, golfing, and practicing hot yoga. She has a lifelong love of the outdoors and stays active whenever she can.
