Lindy Robinson

Junior High Humanities & Spanish Teacher

Lindy Robinson completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Calgary, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in international relations and a Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in secondary social studies. Lindy had the opportunity of completing her final teaching practicum at Tanbridge Academy under the mentorship of Jennifer Thoben, and she joined the Tanbridge team as a full-time teacher shortly after. Lindy has now taught at Tanbridge Academy for several years, passionately leading junior high humanities courses and complementary Spanish language and culture studies courses. During the 2021-2022 academic year, propelled by her desire to pursue further education, Lindy spent a year in Spain, completing a master’s degree in teaching English as a foreign language. Her research examined telecollaboration as a tool to foster intercultural competence in foreign language learners.

From a young age, Lindy aspired to be a teacher, and she truly feels it is her life purpose. She is rewarded by the opportunity to come to school each day and share her love of learning with her students. She is touched by the kindness of Tanbridge students and their intrinsic desire to learn, explore, and grow. Lindy is a firm believer in the need to teach the whole child and focuses not only on academics but also on cultivating students’ overall growth and development. She seeks to instill life skills in students, such as balancing academics with athletics and fosters character development with the aim of helping students achieve long-term success in all facets of their lives.

A defining characteristic of Lindy is her passion for travel and learning about other cultures. She has undertaken several educational trips abroad to predominantly Spanish-speaking countries, such as Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, and Spain. During her time abroad, she furthered her Spanish language studies and learned about the local cultures through immersion. She enjoys sharing her passion for travel with her students through virtual trips to different countries of the world and through organizing local field trips to foster experiential learning.

Lindy is grateful to be a member of Tanbridge’s tight-knit community. She feels fortunate to collaborate with inspiring educators who are dedicated to supporting students and one another. The family-like feel of the school is something that Lindy believes sets Tanbridge apart and makes it the ideal environment for educators and students alike to flourish.
