Christine Cossette
Kindergarten Teacher
Christine Cossette is part of the Tanbridge junior kindergarten and kindergarten teaching team. Prior to her years at Tanbridge, she was the director and a teacher of a private preschool for nine years. However, her lifelong passion for young learners led her back to the University of Victoria, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in child and youth care. After that, she enrolled at the University of Calgary, where she then completed her Bachelor of Education specializing in early childhood education. Christine is dedicated to continued learning. More recently, she completed a Positive Education course. Christine uses concepts and strategies learned in this course to help support the social and emotional side of learning for kindergarten students. Outside of school, Christine and her husband, Brandon, love spending time with their two children, Kael and Courtney. Christine loves sharing about her family adventures with her students, which include spending time at the rink watching her children play hockey and ringette. You could also find Christine on the golf course, playing a round of golf or relaxing at home and happily playing board games.
Christine truly enjoys teaching the youngest students of Tanbridge Academy. She loves the hands-on learning and exploration that happens in her classroom, as well as their daily outdoor excursions. She finds it so rewarding to witness the joy and excitement of her students when they learn a new skill, overcome a challenge, or make a new friend. Kindergarten is a child’s introduction to life in school. It is wonderful to see how a child grows as they learn how to read, write, count, and, most importantly, to navigate the social nuances in a busy classroom.
Christine is so happy to be part of the Tanbridge team because of the relationships she has formed with the students, their families, and her fellow teachers. She finds it easy to come to work each day when it is such a warm and inclusive environment. Through leadership classes, real-life experiences, and positive teacher-to-student relationships, Tanbridge Academy focuses on teaching children how to make a positive impact in both the classroom and the world beyond the school walls. Christine loves being a part of this journey for her students, guiding them at the beginning of their journey and then watching how they grow as learners and individuals as they progress through their school years at Tanbridge.
