Raised in Calgary, Alexandra has many roots in the city. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in development studies. In conjunction with her studies, Alexandra had the opportunity to live in Sandema, Ghana, where she studied inclusivity in early education and worked in a local elementary school. After taking some time to work in a variety of early education centers, including Montessori and Reggio classrooms, Alexandra returned to the University of Calgary to complete a Bachelor of Education, specializing in early childhood education and literacy. She graduated in 2017.
Outside of the classroom, when Alexandra isn't chasing after her young daughter, she enjoys various hobbies. She likes to escape in the pages of books, whips up delicious baked creations, lets her creativity flow through painting, and eagerly plans her next adventure.
Over the last several years, Alexandra has had the privilege of being part of the Tanbridge Academy community. While primarily serving as a grade one and two teacher, she has enjoyed working with many different grades in various capacities, including student council and leadership classes. After the birth of her daughter, Alexandra returned part-time and now supports early elementary students in reading and literacy. Early literacy has always been a passion of Alexandra’s, and she is thrilled to help instill a love of reading in young readers.
Alexandra believes in creating classroom environments which enable and encourage students to explore their natural curiosities. She believes it’s imperative to build relationships with each student and allow them to co-create unique learning experiences which foster personal success and fulfillment. Alexandra has been so fortunate to be a part of a school community that shares those same values. She is grateful for the relationships she has formed over the years and for being able to work with amazing teachers who share her passion for teaching and dedication to the students.
